Tired of all this location nonsense? I know I am. Google has been collecting your location data for years, Microsoft is collecting data, and Apple stores it in a file on your iOS device (but doesn't collect it). I'm sure all carriers are doing it, and have been for years. Truthfully, it doesn't really matter anyway.
Still, if you're worried about sharing your location, know that Google isn't stopping with Android. Even iOS apps, such as Google Latitude require you to agree to allow Google to collect your location data. Right from the terms of use for Google Latitude: "Consent to the collection, use, sharing, and onward transfer of your data, including but not limited to voice and location data, as outlined in the Mobile Privacy Policy (m.google.com/privacy). Location data may be from mixed sources and may not be accurate. Use at your own risk". The "use at your own risk" part makes me a bit worried, but honestly, I've used Google Latitude before, Google Maps plenty of times, and a handful of other Google services. To be honest, I'm not too worried. But if you are, you may want to avoid any location based services, especially from Google or Microsoft, who actively store your location data on their servers.
